The Team Tecom 446 is a PMR transceiver that works with 8 channels in the range of 446,00625 to 446,0975 with 500 mW power output, fixed antenna and can be operated license free through Europe.
However, it can be modified to operate as an almost standart UHF handheld. The only known limitation is the fact that you cannot set duplex options, but it is fine for simplex operation and UHF receiving.
First of all you have to disassemble the device, remove the antenna from the conector by using some extra strong, remove the rotatory knob and the rubber protector. After it, unscrew the antenna SMA jack and the knob. Remove the battery pack and the four screws in the bottom. Extract the main board by pulling from battery connectors side.
You have to unsolder the shield and the sub-board below the rotatory knob and the antenna, now you only have to open a solder jump located at the top right corner of the main board, just below the antenna SMA connector in the opposite side of the LCD. and after soldering all again and closing the device, you must do a reset pressing FC+ Power ON.
Now it works in frecuency mode from 420 to 470 Mhz in selectable steps of 5,10,12.5,15,20,25 Khz that can be selected by FC + SC, you can also change 1 MHZ step with FC + ME.
You can also activate LPD mode, pressing FC+ TONE + Power ON. Now it works with 69 channels and 10mW, you can select high power by pressing FC+TON, even without doing this modification. Unlikely after powering the radio off and on again it remains in a strange state being necesary to reset again.
I don-??t know a way to activate PMR mode again without resoldering again.
Cheers from Spain ...
